Every Baja Blast Drink Compared: Original to Zero Sugar

A TacoBellMenuOnline guide — every figure below comes from our dataset of sampled prices and published nutrition (compiled October 2026).

Baja Blast drinks — illustrative photo

Baja Blast is Taco Bell's signature drink — a tropical-lime Mountain Dew you can only get at Taco Bell — and it has grown into a family: the original, the Freeze, the Zero Sugar, the dirty-soda variants, the Dream Refrescas and the café-only pinks. This is every Baja Blast drink in the dataset, by size, with the two reported-but-unverified additions labelled as such.

The family, by size

Baja Blast drinks — sampled prices and published panels by size
ItemPriceCalories
MTN DEW Baja Blast$2.89–$3.19280 Cal
MTN DEW Baja Blast Freeze$3.49190 Cal
MTN DEW Baja Blast Zero Sugar$2.49–$3.1910 Cal
MOUNTAIN DEW BAJA BLAST Dirty Soda$3.29460 Cal
MOUNTAIN DEW BAJA BLAST Dirty Soda Freeze$4.29230 Cal
Strawberry Dream Refresca$4.49320 Cal
Pineapple Dragonfruit Dream Refresca$4.49330 Cal
Pineapple Dragonfruit Dream Refresca Freeze$3.99210 Cal

Read the sizes, not just the names. The original runs 220 calories for a small, 280 for 20 oz, 420 for 30 oz and 550 for 40 oz — the size is the whole story. The Freeze is the lighter frozen version: 150 for 16 oz, 190 for 20 oz. The Zero Sugar is the outlier: 5 calories for a small, 10 for 20 oz, 15 for 30 oz — effectively zero, and the only Baja that belongs in a calorie-deficit order.

The dirty sodas and the Dream line

The Dirty Soda (460 calories, $3.29 sampled) is the original with cream — a different drink, not a lighter one — and the Dirty Soda Freeze (230 calories, $4.29) is its frozen twin. The Dream Refrescas are the October 2026 fall-drop additions: the Strawberry Dream Refresca (320 calories, $4.49 for 20 oz) and the Pineapple Dragonfruit Dream Refresca (330 calories, $4.49), with the Pineapple Dragonfruit Dream Refresca Freeze at 210 for 16 oz and 250 for 20 oz. All three are limited-time, nationwide since October 15, 2026.

The two that aren't in the dataset

Baja Midnight. Reported as permanent in August 2025 (Snackology, August 14, 2025), with a large at $2.99 and the Baja Midnight Freeze regular at $3.79. No full published panel exists in this site's dataset, so no calorie figure is given here — the figures above are the reported prices, not verified panels.

Baja Dream Freeze. Tasting Table's January 7, 2025 account puts it at about $3.69 for 16 oz and $3.89 for 20 oz from January 16, 2025. Again, reported — not in the dataset, so no panel is claimed.

Caffeine and the pie question

Caffeine, as reported by Caffeine Informer: 54mg per 12 fl oz in the original, 36mg per 12 fl oz in the Freeze — the Freeze is the lighter caffeine choice as well as the lighter calorie one. And the Baja Blast Pie is not a drink: it is a whole pie, $19.99, and it is excluded from this comparison until the November 2026 data pass, when its national figures are due to be checked.

About this guide's data

Every figure in this guide comes from one dataset: sampled Taco Bell prices and published nutrition, compiled and verified in October 2026 (prices are re-checked monthly, and every data page carries its verification stamp). Rankings state their rule in the open and are computed from those rows — never voted on, never estimated. Where a value is missing it is shown as missing, and each named item links to its own page, where the full label, allergen record and sampled price range can be checked. Prices vary by location; nutrition values are the published figures for the standard build.
