Gordita Crunch Duos: Steak vs Chicken, Price & Calories

Taco Bell's September 2026 limited-time addition is a smaller, cheaper way into its most-loved build: two mini Cheesy Gordita Crunches, sold as a pair for a suggested $5.49. They launched nationwide on September 17, 2026 (announced in Taco Bell's newsroom on September 10), and they are also the current filling of the $9 Discovery Luxe Box. Both varieties carry the same 340 calories for the pair — less than a single full-size Cheesy Gordita Crunch at 490.

The two varieties, side by side

Each Duo is a flatbread — mozzarella, pepper Jack and cheddar — wrapped around a white-corn shell, with creamy chipotle sauce, lettuce and pico de gallo. The only difference between the two is the protein: grilled marinated steak in one, slow-roasted chicken in the other. Tasting Table, which reviewed both on launch day, called the flavours "very familiar" — standard Taco Bell ingredients in smaller packages — and rated both 6 out of 10.

What $5.49 actually buys

The suggested price is the floor, not the price. Tasting Table paid $6.49 for a two-pack in Columbus, Ohio; The Impulsive Buy paid $5.99 for the chicken and $6.19 for the steak. At $3.25 a mini taco at the Columbus price, the Duos work out cheaper per taco than the full-size Cheesy Gordita Crunch (sampled at $5.74) — but two minis at 340 calories are not a full meal, which is the point: the format is engineered to be paired with something else, and the $9 Discovery Luxe Box is the intended pairing.

The Discovery Luxe Box keeps changing

The box's contents rotate with the promotions calendar, so treat any contents list as dated. In September the $9 box carried the Duos with a Doritos Locos Taco, a Crunchy Taco, Chips & Nacho Cheese Sauce and a medium drink; by the October 15 fall drop it carried the Double Dipping Burritos with a Beef Chalupa Supreme, Cinnamon Twists and a medium drink (Sporked, October 16, 2026). How long will they last?

No end date was announced — the standard limited-time position. The Duos are a September launch with no published end date, and like every LTO they leave without announcement when the rotation moves on. If they are on the menu board at your store, they are current; the item pages carry the sampled price and the published panel.
