The Crunchwrap Supreme is Taco Bell's most-loved build: seasoned beef, nacho cheese sauce, a crunchy tostada shell, lettuce, tomato and sour cream, all folded into a hexagon in a warm flour tortilla and griddled crisp. This is our own home version — the same build, written from scratch, with the restaurant's numbers for comparison.

What goes in it

The build is a layering job, not a long recipe. From the outside in: a large flour tortilla, seasoned ground beef, warm nacho cheese sauce, a crispy tostada shell, sour cream spread over the tostada, shredded lettuce, diced tomato and shredded cheddar, then the tortilla folded up over the filling. The griddle does the rest — it seals the folds and crisps the tortilla.

The recipe

1. Brown the beef. Cook ground beef in a skillet, breaking it up, then drain the fat and season it with chilli powder, cumin, paprika, garlic powder and onion powder, with a splash of water to keep it moist. 2. Warm everything. Warm the tortillas so they fold without cracking, warm the cheese sauce, and have the tostada shells, sour cream, lettuce, tomato and cheddar ready in bowls. 3. Layer. In the centre of a large tortilla, spoon the beef, pour the cheese sauce, lay the tostada on top, spread the sour cream over the tostada, then the lettuce, tomato and cheddar. 4. Fold. Fold the tortilla edges up and over the centre in five or six overlapping folds, making a hexagon that covers the filling. 5. Griddle. Place seam-side down in a hot dry skillet and cook 2–3 minutes a side until golden and sealed, then cut and serve immediately.

The fold is the whole trick

The most common failure is a tortilla that cracks: it means the tortilla was cold or too small. Warm it first, and use the largest flour tortillas you can find — the folds need to overlap, not just meet. The second failure is a soggy tostada: assemble right before griddling, and never add the sour cream directly against the beef — it goes on top of the tostada, where it acts as a barrier instead of a sponge.

Component values from our dataset

Our dataset carries three of the build's components as standalone items. Use them as a sense-check, not a sum:

Dataset values for three components
ItemPriceCalories
Tostadavaries250 Cal
Nacho Cheese Sauce$1.2960 Cal
Reduced-Fat Sour Cream$0.9930 Cal

We do not publish a summed homemade total. The dataset has no raw seasoned-beef or flour-tortilla rows, and the remaining ingredients vary by brand and portion, so any total we printed would be an estimate. The honest benchmark is the restaurant's own panel above: 530 calories for the Crunchwrap Supreme, 520 for the black-bean version. A home build with the same layers lands in the same ballpark; swapping in the black-bean version's beans is the easiest way to drop the beef and keep the structure.

Vegetarian swap

Replace the seasoned beef with seasoned black beans — the same build, the same fold. The restaurant's own Black Bean Crunchwrap Supreme runs 520 calories and $5.99, and it is the closest guide to what the bean version should taste like. If you want the numbers before you cook, add the components to the nutrition calculator and the meal builder to see how a plate with your copycat compares.

About this guide's data

Every figure in this guide comes from one dataset: sampled Taco Bell prices and published nutrition, compiled and verified in October 2026 (prices are re-checked monthly, and every data page carries its verification stamp). Rankings state their rule in the open and are computed from those rows — never voted on, never estimated. Where a value is missing it is shown as missing, and each named item links to its own page, where the full label, allergen record and sampled price range can be checked. Prices vary by location; nutrition values are the published figures for the standard build.

Frequently asked questions

How many calories are in a homemade Crunchwrap Supreme?

We don't publish a summed homemade total — the dataset has no raw seasoned-beef or flour-tortilla rows, and the remaining ingredients vary by brand and portion. The restaurant's Crunchwrap Supreme is 530 calories, and a home build with the same layers lands in the same ballpark.

Can I make a Crunchwrap Supreme vegetarian?

Yes — swap the seasoned beef for seasoned black beans. The restaurant's own Black Bean Crunchwrap Supreme is 520 calories and $5.99, and it keeps the same build and fold.

What is the trick to the fold?

Warm the tortilla first so it folds without cracking, use the largest flour tortillas you can find, and fold five or six overlapping edges up and over the centre. Griddle seam-side down for 2–3 minutes a side to seal it.

What is in a Crunchwrap Supreme?

Seasoned beef, nacho cheese sauce, a crunchy tostada shell, sour cream, lettuce, tomato and shredded cheddar, folded into a hexagon in a warm flour tortilla and griddled crisp.
