The rating reads the plate's total calories: under 500 is Light, 500–900 is Balanced, over 900 is Heavy. It says nothing about sodium, allergens or protein — those are in the totals above and on each item's own page. For the full label (fat, sodium, carbs and every allergen), open the plate in the nutrition calculator.
The calculator is a search-and-add totals tool with full macros and a daily calorie goal. The builder is guided: browse the menu by category, add items to a plate, and get a Light, Balanced or Heavy rating plus starter plates. Both run on the same dataset, and any plate built here can be opened in the calculator with one link.
The rating is a calorie band for the plate as built: under 500 calories is Light, 500–900 calories is Balanced, and over 900 calories is Heavy. It is a quick read on the plate's size, not a health verdict — a Heavy plate can still be high-protein, and a Light plate can still be high-sodium.
Totals are sums of the published per-item values from our dataset. Prices are sampled medians and vary by location; items whose published value is a threshold (for example “<5 mg”) are counted at that threshold.
