Taco Bell's Building Blocks: Tortillas, Beans and Rice

A TacoBellMenuOnline guide — every figure below comes from our dataset of sampled prices and published nutrition (compiled October 2026).

Components nutrition — illustrative photo

Nearly everything at Taco Bell is assembled from the same short list of components — a flour tortilla, seasoned rice, refried beans, a three-cheese blend, nacho cheese sauce and seasoned beef. People search their nutrition by the component, and the honest answer has two halves: what each component is is published verbatim, and what each component weighs in calories mostly is not. This page gives both, without filling the gap with estimates.

Flour Tortilla

The wrap under almost everything. The published statement: bleached enriched wheat flour, malted barley flour, water, shortening (interesterified soybean oil, hydrogenated soybean oil, hydrogenated cottonseed oil), with salt, leavening, sugar, dough conditioners and calcium propionate. Contains: Wheat. [certified vegan]. No standalone nutrition panel is published for the tortilla — the only calorie figure attached to it is inside the items it wraps, and a tortilla's share of a 530-calorie Crunchwrap cannot be separated from the panel without guessing. Anyone quoting a tortilla calorie count is estimating.

Seasoned Rice

Enriched long grain rice, water, canola oil, and a seasoning of maltodextrin, salt, natural flavours, tomato powder, sugar, garlic powder, spices, onion, tomato, red and green bell peppers, citric acid, paprika, onion powder, disodium guanylate and inosinate, and torula yeast. [certified vegan]. The paprika and turmeric give it the colour. Like the tortilla, it has no published standalone panel — its calories live inside the burritos and bowls, not on its own line.

Refried Beans

Pinto beans, soybean oil, and a seasoning of salt, sugar, spice, beet powder, natural flavours, sunflower oil, maltodextrin, corn flour, trehalose and modified cornstarch. [certified vegan]. The bean base of the bean burritos, the 7-Layer and the Power Bowls. The black beans are the sibling component: black beans, water, onion, canola oil, seasoning, modified corn starch, salt, chili powder, garlic and onion — also [certified vegan]. Neither has a published standalone panel.

Three Cheese Blend

Low-moisture part-skim mozzarella, cheddar, and pasteurised process Monterey Jack and American cheese with peppers — cultured milk, cultured part-skim milk, water, cream, salt, sodium citrate, jalapeño peppers, sodium phosphate, lactic acid, sorbic acid, colour added, annatto and paprika extract blend, enzymes — with potato starch, cornstarch and powdered cellulose as anti-caking agents. Contains: Milk. [certified vegetarian].

Nacho Cheese Sauce

Nonfat milk, cheese whey, water, vegetable oil (canola oil, soybean oil), modified food starch, maltodextrin, and 2% or less of natural flavours, sea salt, jalapeño purée, vinegar, autolysed yeast extract, lactic acid, cellulose gum, dipotassium phosphate, citric acid, potassium citrate, sodium stearoyl lactylate, annatto and oleoresin paprika colour. Contains: Milk. [certified vegetarian]. The sauce's own numbers are published where it is sold by the cup — the Nacho Cheese Sauce cup is 60 calories — but the sauce inside a build has no separate line.

The one component with its own panel: Mexican Rice

Mexican Rice is the exception that proves the rule: a discontinued side with a published panel of 120 calories, 4g fat, 200mg sodium, 20g carbs and 2g protein. It is the only standalone component panel in the dataset — which is exactly why this page does not invent panels for the tortilla, the beans or the seasoned rice. The full ingredient statements for every component, verbatim, are on the ingredients hub.

About this guide's data

Every figure in this guide comes from one dataset: sampled Taco Bell prices and published nutrition, compiled and verified in October 2026 (prices are re-checked monthly, and every data page carries its verification stamp). Rankings state their rule in the open and are computed from those rows — never voted on, never estimated. Where a value is missing it is shown as missing, and each named item links to its own page, where the full label, allergen record and sampled price range can be checked. Prices vary by location; nutrition values are the published figures for the standard build.
