The Cheesy Gordita Crunch is two tacos in one: a crunchy taco shell, filled with seasoned beef, lettuce, cheddar and spicy ranch, wrapped in a soft flatbread glued on with melted three-cheese blend. The cheese layer is the whole trick — get it melted and the shell sticks; skip it and you just have a taco next to a flatbread. This is our own home version — an inspired copycat, not Taco Bell's recipe. The original's numbers are the benchmark below.

Ingredients

Method

  1. Cook the beef. Brown the ground beef, drain the fat, then simmer with the spice mix and a splash of water until glossy and fine-textured.
  2. Make the spicy ranch. Stir the sour cream, ranch seasoning and hot sauce together and set aside.
  3. Melt the cheese. Lay a flatbread on a baking tray, scatter a quarter of the three-cheese blend over it, and bake at 200°C for 5–7 minutes until the cheese is fully melted and gooey. (An air fryer at 175°C for 4–6 minutes works the same; a covered pan with a splash of water steams it in about 2 minutes.)
  4. Bind the shell. Working quickly, press a crunchy taco shell onto the melted cheese so it sticks, then fold the flatbread up around the shell.
  5. Fill. Divide the seasoned beef between the shells, add a generous drizzle of spicy ranch, then lettuce and a pinch of cheddar. Serve immediately, wrapped in paper for the full effect.

Nutrition — the honest version

The restaurant's Cheesy Gordita Crunch is 490 calories with 28g fat, 10g saturated fat, 850mg sodium, 42g carbohydrates and 20g protein. We do not publish a summed homemade total. The ingredients vary by brand and portion — the cheese quantity and the beef's fat content all move the total — so any figure we printed would be an estimate. Cook against the original's panel above: the build to match is the melted-cheese bind, the seasoned beef and the spicy ranch. The copycat recipes hub has the seasoned-beef spice mix in full.

About this guide's data

Every figure in this guide comes from one dataset: sampled Taco Bell prices and published nutrition, compiled and verified in October 2026 (prices are re-checked monthly, and every data page carries its verification stamp). Rankings state their rule in the open and are computed from those rows — never voted on, never estimated. Where a value is missing it is shown as missing, and each named item links to its own page, where the full label, allergen record and sampled price range can be checked. Prices vary by location; nutrition values are the published figures for the standard build.

Frequently asked questions

How many calories are in a homemade Cheesy Gordita Crunch?

We don't publish a summed homemade total — the ingredients vary by brand and portion. The restaurant's Cheesy Gordita Crunch is 490 calories, and a home build with the same layers lands in the same ballpark.

What holds the flatbread to the taco shell?

Melted three-cheese blend: scatter it on the flatbread, melt it fully, then press the hard shell into it while the cheese is still molten.

What is the spicy ranch sauce?

Sour cream mixed with ranch seasoning and hot sauce — the creamy, mildly hot drizzle inside the original.

Is this the exact Taco Bell recipe?

No — this is an inspired copycat. Taco Bell does not publish its recipes; this version recreates the build (flatbread, melted cheese, crunchy shell, seasoned beef, spicy ranch) at home.
