Discontinued Taco Bell Burritos: The Archive
The burrito is where Taco Bell's menu churn shows most clearly: the format never leaves, but individual burritos cycle in and out, and the ones people remember are the ones that were cut. This archive lists the burritos with a documented record on this site — the 2020 purge items first, because their removal dates are documented, then the archive-panel items whose panels survive even where no removal date is in our record. It is a companion to the 2020 purge page (the event) — this page is the category list (the items).

The archive, with panels
| Burrito | Calories | What the record says |
|---|---|---|
| 7-Layer Burrito | 420 Cal | Removed August 13, 2020 in the purge; brief return in the Decades Y2K promotion in 2025. |
| Beefy Fritos Burrito | 440 Cal | Removed August 13, 2020; still gone, no return in the record. |
| Shredded Chicken Burrito | 420 Cal | Removed November 2020; still gone. |
| Quesarito | 570 Cal | Pulled from in-store menus in August 2020; archive panel kept. Some listings still show it — check locally rather than assuming it is orderable. |
| Beefy Crunch Burrito | 450 Cal | Returned for the August 2026 Decades promotion at $2.79, then gone again — a revival, not a permanent return. |
| XXL Grilled Stuft Burrito | 830 Cal | Archive panel only (37g protein); no removal date in our record, so none is claimed here. |
| Green Burrito | 370 Cal | Archive panel only; no removal date in our record, so none is claimed here. |
Why burritos get cut first
Burritos are the easiest items to cut in a streamlining: same tortilla, same line, different fillings, so removing one costs the kitchen nothing and saves a slot. That is why the 2020 purge hit burritos hardest, and why the returns follow the same logic — a burrito can come back for a Decades promotion without retooling anything. The pattern to watch is not whether a burrito returns, but whether it returns permanently: the 7-Layer's brief 2025 return and the Beefy Crunch's August 2026 return both ended, while the Mexican Pizza's 2022 return stuck. Permanent returns are the exception, and this archive will say so when one happens.
About this guide's data
For retired items, the prices and panels shown are the last published figures held in our dataset, compiled in October 2026; items still on the menu use current sampled prices. Where a retired item's record is incomplete, the gap is shown as a gap. Full sourcing: how we verify our data.
Frequently asked questions
Which Taco Bell burritos were discontinued in 2020?
In the August 2020 purge: the 7-Layer Burrito and Beefy Fritos Burrito on August 13, 2020, with the Shredded Chicken Burrito following in November 2020. The Quesarito was pulled from in-store menus the same August.
Did the 7-Layer Burrito come back?
Briefly, in the Decades Y2K promotion in 2025. It did not stay — the archive panel (420 Cal) is the record, not a current item.
Is the Quesarito still available?
Not as a standard in-store item per the purge record, though some listings still show it. Check your local store rather than assuming either way.
What is the highest-calorie discontinued burrito here?
The XXL Grilled Stuft Burrito at 830 calories and 37g of protein — the archive's heavyweight, with no removal date claimed in our record.
