McDonald's Breakfast Hours & Menu 2026

McDonald's and Taco Bell are unrelated brands. Breakfast hours

At some 24-hour locations breakfast can start as early as 4:00 AM. The cutoff is strict — the kitchen switches grill temperature from breakfast to beef — and lunch begins at the cutoff, not at noon. Hours vary by location, so check your local restaurant if you are cutting it close.

What you can order for breakfast

Breakfast items, served during the breakfast window: Egg McMuffin, Sausage McMuffin with Egg, Sausage McMuffin, Sausage Biscuit, Sausage Burrito, McGriddles, Hotcakes, Hash Browns, Big Breakfast and Big Breakfast with Hotcakes, plus McCafé coffee and lattes. All-day breakfast ended in March 2020 — and has not returned

All-day breakfast launched in 2015. McDonald's announced its removal on 25 Mar 2020, framed as temporary, to simplify kitchen operations during COVID-19. It never came back: by September 2020 franchisees told Business Insider they did not want it back, and as of 2026 there is no return. The operational reason is the grill-temperature changeover — breakfast grills run around 280°F while beef grills run around 425°F — plus kitchen simplification.

Holidays and exceptions

On most US holidays breakfast keeps the normal hours for that weekday (10:30 AM weekday cutoff). Christmas Day and Thanksgiving are the exceptions — many stores close or run reduced hours, so confirm locally on those days. A small number of franchises serve some breakfast items, such as the Egg McMuffin, past the cutoff at their discretion — that is the exception, not chain policy, so this page does not promise all-day availability anywhere. Hash browns are a breakfast item, served during the breakfast window — the "all day" claims found in search refer to McDonald's Australia, not the US.
